Jody had decided to be an organ donor early on, so when LifeLink of Georgia approached us, we as a family decided to donate Jody's organs so that another family would not suffer. As of October 7, 2009, I have heard from 4 of the 5 receipents.
A 22 year old young man, in Missouri got Jody's heart. He was able to see his first child born.
A 23 year old young man, received a kidney. He is now able to attend college and travel without dialysis.
A 51 year old young man, received his lungs, and is now able to walk and enjoy his wife and children without tiring.
A sweet lady that suffered from severe diabetes, got a kidney and Jody's pancreas. Can now enjoy holidays.
I have not heard from the girl who received his liver yet. Still hoping though.

I would like to share something with ya'll. Yesterday in Atlanta Ga.at the Carter Presidential Library, LifeLink...which is an organization for organ donation here in Georgia, recognized and paid rememberance to those who gave. Jody was among those who was an organ donor. The service was beautiful. And there were so many people there, I felt so small. But I had a chance to get up in front of about 300 people (or a little more maybe) and I got to talk about Jody. They allowed one representative from each donor family to say something in front of an open mike. I felt like it was one step in my healed in my grieving process. As I looked at the different families, I wondered if any there were on Last Memories. I am sure there are some here.
